Indianapolis or ‘Indy’ for short is the capital city of Indiana. When we were here there was a huge convention for high school students relating to careers and academics in agriculture. It was also raining so we were limited with what we could see and do.
CALVIN FLETCHERS COFFEE
Of course it was still raining in the morning so we headed into Indy to check out the coffee scene and figure out what we were going to do for the day. We stopped at Calvin Fletchers Coffee (CFC) and ordered Calvin Pepper Coffee and Ethopian Pourover.
CIRCLE CENTER MALL
We made sandwiches in the car and then drove to Wholesale District where we parked near Circle Center Mall. We walked through the mall to stay out of the rain and there were kids with FFA blazers EVERYWHERE! Later we found out there was a conference for High School Seniors for Future Farmers of America.
SOLDIERS AND SAILORS MONUMENT
Exiting the mall we walked towards Monument Circle. Right in the middle of Monument Circle is the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. We went inside the base of the monument to visit the small museum where you able to walk up the stairs to the top of the tower for free.
At the top of the monument there was a great view, although the weather was not great.
INDIANA STATE HOUSE
Next we headed to the Indiana State House. They were celebrating 100 years of history.
Inside was very elegant and Victorian designs and decor. There was a baked goods fundraiser going on so we bought some banana bread and cookies for $1 each to donate to the Senate fundraiser.
At the time they were celebrating 200 years as a US State.
